"A cutting board that's not just functional, but a work of art. You can feel the difference in quality and care that went into each piece."

Anyone can grab a cheap plastic board or a thin bamboo one off the shelf, but those are meant to be replaced, not enjoyed. A handcrafted cutting board is different. Ours are built from premium hardwoods to stand up to years of real use, and with a quick refresh of oil, they’re ready to look brand new again. They’re not just functional, each board is also a piece of craftsmanship, with natural wood grain patterns that make it as beautiful as it is practical. When you set one on your counter, it isn’t just another kitchen tool. It’s a statement piece that elevates both your cooking and your kitchen.
Not all cutting boards are built the same. The way wood is cut and glued together changes everything, from durability and knife-friendliness to how long your board lasts. Here’s a simple guide to the three most common styles so you can choose the right board for your kitchen.
A chef’s choice. Stunning and built to last.
End grain boards are made with the wood fibers standing tall, creating a naturally durable, self-healing surface. They’re not only incredibly kind to your knives, they’re also some of the most striking boards available. Many feature intricate, three-dimensional patterns that turn a functional tool into a work of art.
Durable. Practical. Timeless style
Edge grain boards are crafted by joining long strips of wood, creating beautiful, flowing lines across the surface. They’re dependable, lighter than end grain, and perfect for everyday cooking. The best part? With a quick sanding and fresh oil, your board can be refreshed to look brand new for years of use.
Beautiful grain. Perfect for presentation.
Face grain boards showcase the wide, natural beauty of each wood species, making them a showpiece in any kitchen. They’re fantastic for light prep work and unbeatable for serving cheese, charcuterie, or a freshly grilled steak. If you want a board that doubles as both tool and centerpiece, face grain delivers.
Most of our cutting boards are made to order, crafted one at a time with the wood species, size, and design you choose. Every so often, we’ll create a one-off piece in the shop just to explore new patterns or ideas — and those unique boards are also available when inspiration strikes. Either way, you’re getting a board built with intention, not mass production.
Our most popular boards are built to order — meaning you pick the style, size, and wood combination, and we craft it for you. From bold end-grain cubes to classic edge-grain stripes, these proven designs look as good as they perform. And once in a while, you’ll find a one-of-a-kind board we made just because the idea was too good not to try. Whether it’s a repeat favorite or an original, you’ll get a handmade piece designed to last.
If you want something completely unique, we’ll create a custom build from the ground up. Select your wood species, size, and pattern, or simply tell us how you want your board to feel in your kitchen. We’ll guide you through options and craft a piece that’s one of a kind. Your board won’t just be a tool — it’ll be your own piece of functional art, designed around you.
A: Since each board is handcrafted by a single craftsman, production isn’t instant. Most orders are completed within about a month, allowing time for careful design, precise cutting, glue-up, sanding, and finishing. This pace ensures that every board is made with the level of detail and quality it deserves.
A: Absolutely. Many of our designs can be recreated in your preferred size and wood combination. Each one will still be unique because of the natural grain of the wood.
A: Occasionally, yes. From time to time we’ll create one-of-a-kind boards just to explore new designs. When they’re available, they’ll be listed alongside our made-to-order options.
A: Maple, walnut, and cherry are the primary hardwoods we use because their tight grain structure makes them ideal for food safety and long-term durability. On occasion, we incorporate accent woods such as purpleheart, zebrawood, or padauk to add visual interest and contrast. These species are used minimally in designs, since their more open pores aren’t as well-suited for full cutting surfaces.
A: A little care goes a long way. Hand wash only, never soak, and refresh the surface with food-safe mineral oil when it looks dry. With proper care, your board can last a lifetime.
