End Grain — The Chef’s Choice
With endless pattern possibilities, end grain designs often double as kitchen showpieces.
Built for heavy use, end grain boards are prized for their durability and “self-healing” surface. Knives slide between the wood fibers instead of across them, keeping blades sharper and boards looking fresh.
Edge Grain — Everyday Workhorse
A classic choice, edge grain boards show the long stripes of maple, walnut, or cherry. They’re lighter than end grain, easier to handle, and still tough enough for daily prep work.
Simple, clean lines make them a favorite for both function and gift-giving.
Face Grain — Serve in Style
Face grain boards highlight the sweeping beauty of the wood’s natural surface. Ideal as serving or charcuterie boards, they bring warmth and elegance to the table.
While best for lighter prep, they’re unbeatable as a canvas for the wood’s character.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to receive my board?
A custom board isn’t a quick-ship item. I’m a one-craftsman shop, which means every board is built by hand on weekends and evenings. Most builds take about 3–4 weeks from start to finish.
Can I order a board I’ve seen that’s already sold?
Yes. If you see a design you love but it’s no longer available, I can usually recreate it. Every board will have slight variations in the grain, but that’s part of what makes each piece one of a kind.
Do you work with woods other than Maple, Walnut, and Cherry?
Those three hardwoods are my go-to choices because their tight grain makes them durable and food-safe. I can add accent species like Padauk, Purpleheart, or Zebrawood in small amounts for unique patterns, but they aren’t used as the main material.
How should I care for my cutting board?
Keep it simple: wash by hand, never soak, and avoid the dishwasher. Reapply food-grade mineral oil when the board starts looking dry — usually once a month. With regular care, your board can last for decades.
